Adamu Adamu exonerates ministry of education from any involevment in N2.67 billion school feeding programme scam

Nigeria’s minister of education, Adamu Adamu, has dissociated his ministry from any involvement in the N2.67 billion fraud allegation  by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The ICPC chairman Bolaji Owasanoye, who made the disclosure on Monday stated that the said sum paid to some federal colleges for school feeding during the COVID-19 lockdown ended up in private bank accounts.

Adamu emphatically denied the fraud allegation, insisting that the programme is not under the supervision of his ministry.

He told TheCable that the office of the vice-president and that of the ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development should know more.

“I think you should try to verify this by asking ICPC to give you the evidence, or by asking the Office of the Vice President that was handling school feeding before, or by asking the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,” Adamu said.

“The Federal Ministry of Education doesn’t handle the issue.” He concluded.
