Southern Kaduna Killings: Armed Forces Deploy Special Forces To Affected Areas

In a bid to curb the recent attacks and isolated killings in Southern Kaduna, Special Operations Forces have been deployed to the Joint Operations Area covering the various flash points. This move is expected to achieve the desired result with the provision of credible and actionable intelligence specifically from primary sources.

The Coordinator Defence Media Operations Major General John Enenche  stated this at a news conference in Abuja, saying that locals have been requested to cooperate with the security agencies by availing them with the required information that will be useful to take out the criminals in the area.

Meanwhile, in continuation of the Air offensive against terrorist elements in the North East region of the country, the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, reportedly eliminated scores of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and destroyed compounds housing them at Tongule in the Lake Chad area of Northern Borno.

Major General Enenche said the air strikes were conducted on 12 August 2020 following credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicating terrorists’ activities in the village.

“Accordingly, following confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which showed presence of a sizable number of the ISWAP elements at designated locations in the settlement, the Air Task Force dispatched a force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets to attack the location. The NAF Jets took turns in engaging the location scoring devastating hits on the designated targets leading to the destruction of the structures as well as the neutralization of several ISWAP fighters”.

This is coming a day after the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE were said to have destroyed a Boko Haram Terrorists’ logistics storage facility and neutralized several of their fighters at Yamud along the Gulumba Gana-Kumshe axis of Borno State, on the heels of credible intelligence reports indicating that the settlement was one of the locations where the terrorists store their logistics and assemble to launch attacks.

The Military says series of follow-up aerial surveillance missions showed significant number of terrorists within the settlement and also identified some compounds that were being used as storage facilities and meeting venues which made the Air Task Force detail its fighter jets to attack the location scoring accurate hits leading to the destruction of designated target structures as well as the neutralization of several of the terrorists.
