UN Suspends Two Staff Over Viral Obscene Video

The United Nations (UN) has suspended two of its employees for their involvement in a sex video that went viral last week. This was disclosed by the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the UN, Stephane Dujarric, on Thursday.

The UN said both employees had been identified and placed on administrative suspension without pay until the conclusion of an ongoing investigation into the accusation.

On Friday, Dujarric told reporters that the organization was appalled and deeply disturbed by the video which surfaced online, showing a couple having sexual intercourse at the back seat of a UN official vehicle in Israel, and that the UN Office of Oversight Services was investigating the allegation.

He also confirmed that the vehicle in the video was a 4×4 vehicle with personnel “likely assigned to the UN Truce Supervision Organization in Jerusalem in it.

Dujarric said, “Two male international staff members, who were in the UN vehicle in Tel Aviv have been identified as having engaged in misconduct, including conduct of sexual nature.

“Given the seriousness of the allegation of failing to observe the standards of conduct expected of international civil servants, the two staff members have been placed on Administrative Leave without Pay.

“This is pending the results and conclusion of the ongoing OIOS investigation.

“UNTSO has re-engaged in a robust awareness-raising campaign to remind its personnel of their obligations to the UN Code of Conduct.

“The OIOS investigation continues, and we will keep you informed.”

Media reports say the video was recorded with the culprits at the back of the moving vehicle, a driver and a bald-headed man on the passenger seat.
