NDDC: Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio Summoned To Testify In Ongoing Probe In The House of Representatives

Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and former governor of Akwa Ibom State has been summoned to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission .

The decision to summon the former minority leader in the senate was reached after Joi Nunieh, the former acting Managing Director of NDDC, made a series of allegations against him, concerning his administration of the NDDC. No date was given for his appearance before the probe panel.

The Port Harcourt residence of the former MD was yesterday invaded by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force ostensibly acting on orders from the inspector general of police.

Many observers had alleged that the invasion was to prevent Nunieh from moving from Port Harcourt to Abuja to testify before the House of Reps panel.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who prevented the police from taking Nunieh away, had asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to probe the invasion of the former NDDC boss.

There has been multiple allegations of corruption and mismanagement of funds in the NDDC over the last few weeks. President Muhammadu Buhari did announce on Thursday that he will follow up to get to the root of the crises in the Commission.
