Kemebradikumo Pondei, acting NDDC MD collapses while testifying before reps probe panel

The ongoing probe of the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) took a new twist this Monday following the passing out of Kemebradikumo Pondei, the acting managing director of the Commission during a session of the house of representatives committee looking into the finances of the agency.

The reps members and others around the venue quickly rallied round to resuscitate him. He was taken out of the venue soon afterwards.

The panel subsequently adjourned the session to 1:35 pm. It is unclear if Pondei would be rejoining the committee when they reconvene.

Pondei last week stormed out of the session after he accused Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, chairman of the NDDC house committee of complicity in the fraud at the agency. He insisted that the chairman cannot preside over a case that he is an accused.

Tunji-Ojo announced his withdrawal as the chairman of the probe panel on Monday.

The NDDC has come under intense scrutiny in the last few weeks following mind boggling allegations of corruption and malfeasance by senior officials of the agency and several other political actors.
