Journalists Shut Out as Presidential Panel Continues Magu’s Probe

Abuja: The Ayo Salami presidential panel that grilled the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, for hours on Monday is continuing with its investigations today.

The panel members were all seated at around noon, comparing files and waiting for the arrival of the acting head of the nation’s anti-graft agency. Magu was detained last night at the headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force.

State House correspondents will however not be covering the proceedings again today after they were barred from gaining access to the Old Banquet Hall, venue of the exercise on Monday.

Ibrahim Magu is answering questions bordering on alleged mismanagement of recovered loot and assets, disobedience of court orders, leaking reports of ongoing investigations to the press and insubordination to his supervising minister, Abubakar Malami of the federal ministry of justice.
