Ekoli Edda community in Ebonyi State was thrown into mourning as criminals suspected to be gunmen, allegedly from Biase Local Government in Cross River State, killed two persons resident in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to Punch newspaper, Five persons were also kidnapped from Ekoli Edda and taken to an unknown destination.
Mister Okoroafor 55 years and Missus Paulina Ndukwe 49 years, the two persons killed around 4 pm, are said to be husband and wife. They were allegedly killed around the palm plantation at the boundary between Ekoli Edda and Biase Areas
The kidnapped persons are. Esther Ikwuo, Elizabeth Ikwuo, Chinechere Nnachi, Ogbonna Aku, and Sunday Ogbu.
The gunmen reportedly carried the dead bodies of the couple away. Kalu, the son of the victims who sustained gunshot wounds, recounted how his parents were slaughtered by the gunmen.
The police through the Ebonyi State Commissioner Philip Maku said
“Meanwhile preliminary observation revealed that the attack was as a result of the resurgence of a long standing communal feud, between the people of Ekoli Edda in the Afikpo South LGA of Ebonyi State and the Biase LGA of Cross River State”
The Police said security personnel have been deployed to the areas to arrest and rescue those kidnapped.
