EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu Arrested By DSS

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

He was reportedly arrested at around 2 by DSS agents who whisked him away from the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Abuja.

Magu was recently accused by his supervising minister, Abubakar Malami of the ministry of justice of mismanaging recovered funds stashed away by senior officials of previous administrations. He was also accused of other acts of gross misconduct and living in a N40 million home paid for by a former military chief under the investigation of the commission he heads.

Malami had asked the president, Muhammadu Buhari to dismiss the EFCC boss and reportedly recommended some names including the FCT police commissioner, Bala Ciroma as possible replacements.

The 8th senate headed by Abubakar Bukola Saraki on two occasions refused the president’s request to confirm the acting chairman citing incriminating reports against his confirmation from the DSS.
