Alleged Dare-Devil Robbers, Kidnappers Paraded By Police

Hardly can any community be attacked without the active collaboration of some of the sons and daughters of that community….

Those were the submissions made by the Force Public Relations Officer DCP Frank Mba at the parade of thirty two criminal suspects in Abuja.

Mba, while referring to the three separate bank robbery operations which took place in Ondo and Ekit States led by Tubosun Ojo said to prevent heinous acts like this from happening, citizens, community leaders and security agents must work together.

”In the three operations, it is always a son of the soil, somebody from that community, that will identify the target, identify the strength and weaknesses of the location Identify the people that work in the bank and know the normal course of action in the bank. And they are the ones who eventually sell this information to the robbery gang” Mba said

The police spokesperson noted that every person still connected to the bank robbery, still at large will be arrested no matter how long it takes to fish them out; they will never go Scot free, he said.

The 7 man criminal gang attacked and robbed three comm​ercial banks in the South-West States of Ondo and Ekiti between 2019 and 2020, killed innocent citizens including six policemen and carted away several millions of naira.

According to the Police, investigations revealed that the dare-devil armed robbers -Tunbosun Ojo 42years, Ismaila Ojo 25years, Victor Oyeyemi 36years, Dele Ariyo 44years, Shola Oladimeji  50years, Olubodun Folayemi 44years and Adeniyi John 42 years carried out the robbery of a commercial bank in Ile-oluji, Ondo State on 7th February, 2020 where four 4 policemen were killed.

Similarly, they were also involved in the robbery of a Microfinance Bank in Idanre, Ondo State in December, 2019 and a commercial bank at Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State where two policemen lost their lives.

The suspect Tunbosun Ojo said…

”I also led them inside, to pack the money. At ile-oluji when we packed the money, my share of the money was 1.1 million Naira, my accomplice got N500,000, N300,000 and in that order”.

While Dele Ariyo who stood as the informant for the robbers as they operated said

“I got this job, through someone that I know, by name Shola, he was the one who introduced this job through his friend, by name Sesan. Sesan told me there was an operation at Oye and I followed them for the operation at Oye and I took Sesan on the bike. The two of us were on surveillance mission. The second day the money was sent to me by shoal I collected two hundred thousand Naira”

The police explained that efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of the gang still at large and to recover other sophisticated weapons used in the operations.

CRIMINAL SUSPECTS PARADED BY THE POLICE

Similarly, 23 other suspects were also arrested by the Police operatives for their involvement in various crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal possession of prohibited firearms, car snatching at gun point, amongst other offences.

A case in point is a gang led by Yusuf Zubairu, who use different sim cards to Blackmail and threaten innocent victims. While those who are unyielding are Kidnapped.

Also, 33 year old Usman Garba an ex-convict and a suspected gun runner  delivering arms to bandits says he’s paid 600 naira for a piece of bullet.

While Sunday Ekele a 47 year old man who just finished his prison sentence, attacked and robbed an innocent Nigerian and snatched his car.

The suspect in his confessional statement said,

“Last month, we went to Angwa Mai Joro area at Kaduna State, we enter a man;s house I didn’t know him so when we got there, he opened his door and when he opened he door we told him we needed money.”

Items recovered include

1 AK49 rifle,

1 AK47 rifle,

2 pump action guns,

5 locally made guns,

19 locally made short guns,

125 cartridges,

145 AK47 ammunition,

locally fabricated  explosives

and a Toyota Corolla vehicle with Reg. No. LSR 490 GC.

Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspects will be charged to court.
