All Four Person Implicated In Viral Video, Dehumanising A Lady Arrested-Police

The Nigeria Police has arrested the remaining two persons involved in the dehumanizing treatment of a female citizen in a viral video making the rounds since Wednesday, the 22nd of July, 2020. This brings the total number of persons now in police custody to four.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, explained in a press statement, that the two additional persons arrested are, “CPL Aiyedun Akeem and one Ope Owoeye – the civilian accomplice popularly known as ‘Wyclef’.”

It will be Recalled that ASP Tijani Olatunji and Inspector Gboyega were earlier arrested for their involvement in the case.

Investigation is still ongoing after which the Force internal disciplinary procedures will commence for the officers.
Meanwhile, Police Detectives from the State CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos have established contact with the victim with assurances that justice will not only be done but will be seen to have been manifestly done.”  Mba said

On the 22nd of July 2020, the police announced in a tweet that the Inspector General of Police had ordered discreet investigations into the circumstances surrounding the dehumanizing treatment meted out to a lady in a video that has since gone viral and also to unravel the identities of the policemen.

The lady was allegedly harresed bypolicemen in Ibadan. The incident is one of many cases of alleged brutality perpetrated by the police.

However, Following the IGP’s ditectives, 3 police officers were identified alongside obe civilian said to be an accomplice ASP Tijani Olatunji and Inspector Gboyega Oyeniyi were arrested for their role, in what the police term, “discreditable conduct and incivilty to a member of the public.

They are currently in detention at the Lagos State CID facility Panti Yaba. Although investigations revealed that the policemen attacked to Area A Command Lion building, Lagos were on Ibadan to unravel a suspected case.

Reactions on social media and from different quarters have trailed the matter. Many have  called for justice on this basis.
