Trouble In Katsina as Protesters Burn Buhari’s Billboard Over Insecurity

The residents of the town on Tuesday took to the streets to protest the constant attacks and killings by terrorist groups and night marauders. Aminu Masari, governor of the state had earlier announced that his administration had pulled out of a controversial peace deal with bandits.

Angry protesters in Katsina have set on fire, a billboard bearing the picture of President Muhammadu Buhari and the logo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yantumaki town, Danmusa local government area of Katsina state.

The residents of the town on Tuesday took to the streets to protest the constant attacks and killings by terrorist groups and night marauders. Aminu Masari, governor of the state had earlier announced that his administration had pulled out of a controversial peace deal with bandits.

The killers have been running riots in several communities in the North West and shot the 60-year-old Abu Atiku, district head of Yantumaki on June 1. The gunmen also attacked some communities in Batsari LGA of the state, and killed the council’s APC chairman.

The scores of protesters blocked the Katsina/Kankara major highway and stopped all vehicular movement into the town. They were said to have been enraged by the kidnap of one Mansir Yusuf and his daughter by bandits around 1 am on Tuesday.
