Police Kill Man over ‘100 Bribe’

Just when the dust raised from the misconduct of trigger happy policemen is yet to settle days after Tina Ezekwe was killed, one of the police operatives in Adamawa State has killed a Youth from Maiha town.

The Adamawa Police Spokesperson DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the incident.

In a report gathered by BBC Hausa, the policeman allegedly demanded One Hundred Naira bribe from the late victim.

The deceased person was said to have told the policeman he did not have the money demanded, just as he started his motorcycle the Policeman pulled the trigger and shot at the victim.

It was reported that irate youths in the area attempted to set the Police Station ablaze, with protesting indigenes and residents occupying the town.

The Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer told BBC that the Police Commissioner had ordered the arrest of the Policeman who committed the heinous act and a swift investigation on the matter. The officer has since been arrested while the victim had been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, in Taraba State, unidentified gunmen have killed a Clergyman, Reverend Emmanuel Saba Bileya and his wife Juliana. This happened in Mararraba community in Donga Local Government Area of the State.

The Spokesperson of the Taraba State Command ASP David Misal, explained that the Senior Pastor at the Reform Church and his wife were on their farm when the gunmen stormed the place and opened fire on them, killing them instantly.

ASP David Misal said “It was an attack on the pastor and his wife on their farm. While they were working on the farm, suddenly armed men came and opened fire on them leading to the death of the pastor and his wife.”

According to the Police, the matter is currently being investigated.

Pastor Saba recently graduated from a University in the United States of America. The late couple left behind eight children.
