More Anti-Government Protests in Katsina Over Insecurity

Carrying placards and chanting anti-government songs, the demanded an immediate end to the killings. Motorists plying the route had to pull over by the roadside as the youths sang and marched through the streets.

Following the killing of over 40 residents in Faskari LGA of Katsina, angry youths took to the streets yesterday to register their displeasure with the rising insecurity and loss of human life and property in the state. The protesters blocked a major road in the area as they protested the activities of bandits.

Carrying placards and chanting anti-government songs, the demanded an immediate end to the killings. Motorists plying the route had to pull over by the roadside as the youths sang and marched through the streets.

This recent protest comes days after angry residents trooped to the streets of Yantumaki town, Danmusa local government area of Katsina to demand improved security. They burnt President Muhammadu Buhari’s and Governor Masari’s billboards in the course of their demonstrations.

Many residents of the state have since fled their homes and taken shelter in safer districts outside the state. Bandits and other criminal franchises have been running riot on several states in the north west.
