A man in his early 30s in Dangora town, Kano State is currently cooling his heels in police custody after he was caught by the mother of a young girl in whose room he had sneaked into with obnoxious intents according to sources. The woman raised an alarm as he tried to get away which attracted the attention of neigbours who rallied round and caught the intruder before handing him over to the police.
On interrogation, he confessed to the police that he had raped 40 women in 12 months all in the same town. The Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said that the people of the town were happy that this sexual predator has been arrested.
There has been a steep rise in rape cases in the last few weeks with many calling for stiffer measures to curb the menace of sexual violence in the country.
