Malami Recommends the Sack of Acting EFCC Boss Over Alleged Diversion of Recovered Loot

The minister of justice and attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami has recommended the sack of Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over series of alleged misconducts including allegations of diverting recovered loot and insubordination.

The minister is also believed to have forwarded a few names to President Muhammadu Buhari as possible replacement for Magu. EFCC is under the supervision of the justice ministry and Malami’s recommendation for the dismissal of Magu who was appointed in November 2015 is expected to receive serious considerations from the president.

The EFCC helmsman has remained in acting capacity since his appointment more than four years ago following repeated refusal of the 8th senate to confirm him the substantive head of the anti-graft agency citing opposition to his nomination by the DSS who alleged that Magu’s N40 million residence was paid for by a suspect under the investigation of the Commission.
