Obinwanne Okeke, a popular Nigerian social media celebrity has pleaded guilty to $11 million fraud charges in the US.

The now-disgraced entrepreneur, once listed by Forbes magazine as one of the most influential young Africans was arrested at the Dullers Airport in the US in 2019 on allegations of masterminding series of internet-originated fraud against US companies.

Okeke, better known as “Invictus Obi” appeared before a court in the eastern district of Virginia, where he owned up to his crimes, telling officials that he was involved in “yahoo-yahoo” between 2015 and 2019.

The Nigerian earlier pleaded not guilty to a two-count-charge of internet fraud and was remanded in prison.

Following his change of plea, the presiding judge, Robert J. Krask , will now sentence  the accused on October 22.

Knowledgeable sources estimate that Okeke could spend up to 20 years in a US jail.
