Insecurity: Femi Adesina Launches Scathing Attacks on Ango Abdullahi, NEF

Adesina was reacting to the group's criticism of the Buhari administration over rising spate of terrorism and attacks on innocent citizens by various criminal franchises in northern Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, Femi Adesina, has again launched a pointed attack on the leadership of the Northern Elders’ Forum and its leader, Ango Abdullahi, calling them “mere irritants”.

Adesina was reacting to the group’s criticism of the Buhari administration over rising spate of terrorism and attacks on innocent citizens by various criminal franchises in northern Nigeria. Adesina described the group as a “one-man army” which is driven by political interests and its dislike for the president.

The president’s spokesman called the NEF a “quasi-organization that boasts of no credible membership,” describing the group’s leader, Abdullahi as “a General without troops.”

The NEF had  expressed concerns over the persistent killing of residents in several communities in the north and demanded greater response from the country’s security operatives.

The group however placed the entire blame for the terrible security situation in the country on the doorstep of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, describing his administration as a “woeful failure” when it comes to security and welfare of the citizens.
