APC Crisis: Police Seals Off Ruling Party’s Secretariat

The party has been enmeshed in leadership dispute since last week following an appeal court ruling affirming the suspension of its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took a turn for the worse hours ago after anti-riot police personnel took over the party’s secretariat in Wuse area of Abuja.

The party has been enmeshed in leadership dispute since last week following an appeal court ruling affirming the suspension of its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The party officials over the last week appear to have been unable to decide who would act as the party’s chairman in Oshiomhole’s absence. Former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi who ought to have taken over in view of his position as the deputy national chairman of the party (south) is still battling the novel COVID-19.

Victor Giadom, another contender for the top job was over the weekend suspended by the Rivers State chapter of the party.

The IG of Police has schedule a meeting for all the warring parties later today after protesters yesterday stormed national secretariat to register their frustration with the state of affairs in the party which took over power from the opposition PDP in 2015.
