APC Crises: Hilliard Eta Alleges Threat To His Life, Plot To Burn Party Secretariat

The leadership controversies and disputes within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) appear to be deteriorating with each passing day and the latest is coming from Hilliard Eta, the National Vice Chairman South-South of the  party in the south-south zone who has alleged there there are plots to assassinate him by “unidentified thugs” who have also been commissioned to set the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on fire.

Eta, who is standing for acting national chairman, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, made this known to the press on Wednesday.

The APC chieftain also said the party has obtained information some thugs and arsonists were being brought from Port Harcourt to burn the party secretariat in Abuja to blackmail the National Working Committee (NWC).

“We got information that they are going to send thugs from Port Harcourt. They are coming here to burn the Secretariat and make it look like the National Working Committee instigated a fire incident so that the Secretariat will be burnt down and then, they will give the impression that it is the NWC that is burning down the Secretariat because they (NWC) don’t want Victor Giadom to come in.” Eta disclosed.

Continuing he said, “they are have two intentions, that is number one. Number two is that they are going to make an attempt on my life. I just thought that I should let the press know this.

“I am just moving out of my house, I’m coming to secretariat from there I will report to the police.”

Things have not been the same in the ruling party since June 16 when an appeal court affirmed the suspension of the national chairman, Adams Oshiohmole by the Edo state chapter of the party.

Various party leaders have since emerged to declare themselves as “acting national chairman.”

On Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari threw his weight behind another leader of the party, Victor Gaidom as acting national chairman.
