The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 17 deaths on Sunday, the highest figure of deaths recorded in one day since the outbreak of Coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria.
NCDC, in its daily update, confirmed 284 new cases in the country bringing the total number to 4,399.
It said the 248 new cases were reported from 17 states: Lagos – 81, Jigawa – 35, Borno – 26, Kano – 26, Bauchi – 20,FCT – 13, Edo – 12, Sokoto – 10, Zamfara – 7, Kwara – 4, Kebbi – 4, Gombe – 2, Taraba – 2, Ogun – 2, Ekiti – 2, Osun – 1 and Bayelsa – 1.

A check on the website of the centre shows that of the 143 deaths recorded in the country, 33 were recorded in Lagos State follow by Kano with 26 deaths and Borno (16).
The other States with the record of deaths are Sokoto (12), Kastina (10), FCT (6), Ogun (5), Edo (4), Osun (4), Zamfara (3), Delta (3), Kebbi (3), Kaduna (3), Nasarawa (2), Jigawa (2), Oyo (2), Rivers (2), Akwa-Ibom (2), Ekiti (1) Kwara (1), Bauchi (1), Gombe (1), and Yobe (1).
Globally, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 stand at 4,102,955, while the global death toll has reached 282,719, according to Johns Hopkins University.
