Kano 9 Kidnap, Trafficking Debate Heats Up Plenary Session

Days after the Kano state police command uncovered a human traffic ring of six, the
Senator representing Kano South senatorial district raised a point of national importance on the rescue of nine Muslim children.

The suspects, led by Paul Onwe, were bust after they tried to transport a child identified as little Bako to Anambra state. Bako was kidnapped on September 11, 2019, on his way home from Islamiyya School at Yankaba quarters.

Making not less than N200,000 from trafficking each child, the suspects have run their syndicate for over five years. They kidnapped Muslim children, renamed and moved them to Anambra state.

The abduction is of special concern as it has been tagged ‘kidnapping for Christ’ by Muslim rights groups.

The Senate, while commending the Kano and Anambra state governments for the release of the Kano 9, has accordingly resolved to investigate the abduction through
its committee on police affairs.
