Nobel Prize: Buhari’s Congratulatory Message to Ethiopian PM, a Contradiction-Kanu

The congratulatory message by President Muhammadu Buhari to Ethiopian Prime Minister, Ahmed Abiy for winning the Nobel Peace Prize award is a contradiction to his stance against Referendum being demanded by Biafran agitators. IPOB Leader, Nnnamdi Kanu has said.

Buhari, had in the congratulatory messages posted on his Twitter page said the recognition of Abiy for his role in the ending of a 20-year conflict between his country and Eritrea is a good sign for peace processes within countries and across borders in Africa.

But the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu while replying to Buhari’s congratulatory message said Abiy played a key role in the #Referendum that split Eritrea from Ethiopia as against Buhari’s stance on Referendum.

Soon after coming into power in April 2018, Abiy restored ties that had been frozen since a 1998-2000 border war with Eritrea. He also helped mediate a maritime territory dispute between Kenya and Somalia and has been a key part of efforts to bring together the leaders of Sudan and South Sudan for talks.

He also granting amnesty to thousands of political prisoners just as he discontinuing media censorship and dismissing several high-profile figures suspected to be guilty of corruption.
