Armed Robbers Kill Five, After ‘Operation Kpochapu 2’ Launched in Onitsha

Few hours, after the Anambra state governor, willie Obiano launched ‘operation Kpochapu 2 ‘ on Friday to fight crimes in the state, armed robbers caused havoc in Onitsha, killing five persons.

According to report, the gunmen drove into the seaman filling station within the Borromeo round-about axis along the popular Awka road in Onitsha, at about 2:00am on Saturday under the pretence to buy fuel.

Immediately , six of the daredevils gained access to the filing station, they gunned down one of the vigilante operatives on sight and then, a worker, who was woken up by the sound of gunshots as he wanted to run. Others shot dead including a female sale’s attendant who refused to hand out the keys to the volt.

The armed robbers allegedly made away with the cash realised from that day’s sales. Many of night travellers, who were plying the Boromeo round-about axis, disembarked and ran for their lives.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Haruna Mohammed said the command was still investigating the matter and would come out with the findings later.

Anambra star governor ,willie obiano under his administration’s security initiative imported state -of-art security gadgets and operational vehicles with the aim to curtail and completely wipe out criminal elements in the state.

The launch of the security initiative presented super smart closed -circuit cameras (CCTVs) in Awka,Nnewi and Onitsha cities in the state. And also, procured 109 vehicles with installed electronic gadgets.

According to the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba said that the administration was committed to use advanced technology to protect lives and property of the people.

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar while commission the Anambra State’s technology-driven security initiative, the Smart City project” he said that the installation in Anambra State would make the state to become Nigeria’s safest state and as a result attract considerable investments.
