Lagos Assembly passes VAT, open-grazing bills in law

The Lagos State House of Assembly has passed the Value Added Tax (VAT) Bill and the bill that prohibits open cattle grazing in the state.

Both bills were passed on Thursday after unanimous votes by the lawmakers at the sitting where the bills were read for the third time.

The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit a clean copy of the legislations to the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for assent.

Immediately after the passage, Obasa commended his colleagues for their passion to see that the state continues to grow.

He said, “I thank you all for this historic exercise.”
