The Federal Government initially declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr.
However, due to the non-sighting of the crescent in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, the Eid celebration was rescheduled for Wednesday. The Federal Government extended the public holiday to Thursday, making it a three-day holiday for the festivities.
This decision was announced by the Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, with the approval of Thursday, 11th April 2024, as an additional public holiday.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Minister of Interior, commended the Muslim Ummah for completing a month of spiritual rejuvenation and emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all.
