JUST IN: Bandits invade Kaduna school, kidnap pupils

Bandits have attacked a government primary school in Kuriga community of the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting scores of pupils, including the head teacher. The incident occurred at 8:30 am on Thursday, with many students sustaining injuries while attempting to flee the school upon sighting the bandits.

This invasion is part of a concerning trend of bandit attacks in the North-West region of Nigeria, leading to protests by residents against the escalating violence.

The abduction of schoolchildren in Nigeria has become alarmingly frequent, with insurgents demanding large ransoms for their release. Recent incidents include the abduction of pupils and staff members from Apostolic Faith School in Ekiti State, where assailants intercepted a school bus, resulting in the release of the victims after about a week, although tragically, the bus driver was found dead.

This incident adds to a series of kidnappings that have affected various regions in Nigeria, such as Chibok, Dapchi, Kankara, Kagara, and Kaduna, where thousands of schoolchildren have been seized by terrorists over the years
