Sanwo-Olu Approves Slash In Transportation Fare, Permits Civil Servants To Work From Home

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has made some significant announcements aimed at easing the economic hardship of Lagosians. Sanwo-Olu revealed that civil servants in the state will have a flexible work pattern starting next week.

According to the governor, civil servants from levels 1 to 14 will come to the office a maximum of 3 times a week, while those in levels 15 to 17 will miss work a day in a week. This measure is expected to reduce stress and pressure on workers and on the road.

To further address transportation challenges, a 25% reduction in transport fees is set to commence over the upcoming weekend for the state’s public transit systems, such as BRT, trains, and ferries. Other categories of civil servants, including educators, will receive additional support to enable them to attend their duties five days per week.

In addition to these measures, the Government has plans to distribute 300 trailer loads of foodstuffs throughout the state, ensuring proper logistics to reach those most in need. Four food hubs will be constructed to provide innovative methods of distributing food and combat rising food prices. Furthermore, seven other locations in various Local Governments have been identified for future development of food hubs.

The Governor also mentioned the opening of Sunday Markets in at least 42 identified markets across Lagos State, where citizens can purchase essential goods at discounted rates, limited to purchases valued at no more than N25,000.
