Contempt: Court Convicts EFCC Chairman

The Federal Capital Territory High Court had convicted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for contempt of court in relation to his agency’s failure to comply with an earlier order of the court.

Ruling on Tuesday, Justice Chizoba Oji held that the chairman of the anti-graft agency is in contempt of the order of the court made on November 21, 2018, directing the commission to return to an applicant, his Range Rover (super charge) and the sum of N40 million.

Justice Oji had directed the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba to commit Bawa to the Kuje Correction Centre for continued disobedience of court order.

In reaction to this, it was gathered that the anti-graft agency said it will appeal the ruling of the court on the conviction of its Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, for contempt of court.

This was made known by the anti-graft agency’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwajaren
