The Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, has declared Bashir Machina as All Progressives Congress candidate for Yobe North senatorial.
The court ordered both APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise Machina.
The presiding judge, Justice Fadima Murtala Aminu, nullified the parallel primary election that produced the incumbent Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, on June 9, 2022.
The judge also ordered the APC to forward the name of Machina to INEC as the authentic winner of the primary held in May.
This comes after INEC had published a list of candidates for presidential and national assembly election as Godswill Akpabio and Dumebi Kachikwu’s names appeared but the Lawan’s name was missing.
