Dumebi Kachikwu wins ADC presidential ticket

Media mogul, Dumebi Kachikwu, has emerged the presidential flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2023 general elections.

Kachikwu, who is the CEO/Chairman of Roots Television Nigeria, won the party’s ticket at the presidential convention held on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The media entrepreneur polled 978 votes, beating his closest rival, former deputy CBN governor Kingsley Moghalu, who scored 589 votes.

Chukwuka Monye scored 339 votes, Princess Chichi Ojei scored 72 votes, Ebiti Ndok Jegede scored 5 votes, Muhammed Lamido scored 2 votes, while Angela Johnson scored one vote.

While addressing delegates before the voting process began, Kachikwu vowed to rescue Nigeria from the current challenges she is facing.

2,100 delegates were picked as delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Twelve aspirants, comprising five women and seven men contested for the ADC presidential ticket. Two aspirants were absent from the exercise, while an aspirant Mani Ibrahim withdrew from the race.
