Twenty Four hours after unknown gunmen attacked Greenfield University in Kaduna state and abducted about 23 students and a staff, armed men have invaded the General hospital in Idon, Kajuru Local Government of the state and abducted two nurses.
The hospital was attacked by the gunmen on Thursday morning.
The Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Cafra Casino, who confirmed the incident, urged residents to remain calm as investigations had begun and rescue operations were ongoing.
Dr. Shingyu Shamnon, the Medical Director of the hospital, told newsmen that the attackers forcefully gained access into the hospital, shot indiscriminately and whisked away the two nurses on night duty.
Shamnon said, “We were in our homes until a call was put through to us that it was kidnappers who invaded the hospital, only to discover that two of the nurses on night duty have been taken away by the bandits.
“The kidnappers went away with the phone of one of the staff whom we thought was also kidnapped but he later returned.”
