President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osibanjo have received their first doses of the COVAX Astrazeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine which arrived in Nigeria on the 2nd of March 2021, from the COVAX facility.
The Duo took the jab today, Saturday 6th of March 2021 at the banquet hall of the presidential villa in Abuja as part of efforts to disperse vaccination hesitancy amongst Nigerians.
Although the vaccine has been certified safe for administration and considered 70% effective by the National Agency for Food, Drug, Administration, and Control (NAFDAC), getting administered does not guarantee full immunity. Everyone remains obligated to indulge in provisional safety measures such as the wearing of face masks, washing of hands, maintaining social distancing, and so on.
This is until the country is declared completely coronavirus-free.
