A yet to be ascertained number of female students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization in Mando community, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been abducted by gunmen.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, and only female students were handpicked, as their male counterparts were not taken away.
Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, and Kaduna State Police PRO, Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incident on Friday morning.
Aruwan said an investigation is ongoing.
The abduction is coming barely 48 hours after the state government announced the killing of seven persons, rustling of cows and destruction of properties by bandits in three Local Government Areas of the state.
It is also coming on the heels of the 2020 security situation report presented by the Commissioner for Internal Security to the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday.
The report said at least 937 people were killed, 1,972 kidnapped and 7,195 cattle were rustled in violent attacks and mass atrocities in the state in 2020.
