Some top government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari, the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Buba Marwa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, were on Monday vaccinated against COVID-19.
Gambari received the vaccine at about 10:28 am at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Marwa received his at about 10:39 am while Shehu received his around 10:41 am.
The Permanent Secretary of the State House, Tijjani Umar, was among the top government officials to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. He was vaccinated at about 10:43 am.
The officials were all vaccinated by the Chief Nursing Officer of the State House Clinic, Esther Ibrahim.
Speaking after the vaccination, Gambari said the vaccination was painless and that he followed the footsteps of President Muhammadu Buhari, who exhibited leadership together his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, by publicly receiving the jabs last Saturday.
He encouraged eligible Nigerians to take the vaccine, assuring them of its safety.
