#ZabarmariMassacre: Families Of Slain Borno Rice Farmers Receive N600, 000, Food Items Each

Families of 48 rice farmers who were killed in the Zabarmari massacre by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state have received N600, 000 each from the Borno state government.

The bereaved families were also given bags of food items distributed on Thursday by a committee set up by the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum.  The shared fund came from a combined support of N20 million from the Northern Governors’ Forum and N5 million from the North East Development Commission.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Saina Buba, who chaired the committee, led the distribution process.

Also, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, donated a total of 13,000 bags of rice, maize and beans, 1,300 cans of vegetable oil, 2116 cartons of seasoning cubes, 1,083 sachets of tomato and 650 sachets of salt to the families.

The governor noted that each family was to combine the N600, 000 cash and food items distributed to them to reduce the hardship created by the death of mostly male victims who were the breadwinners of the family.
