7 Farmers, Nursing Mother Killed By Bandits In Communities In Katsina

Barely 48 hours after members of the Boko Haram Sect massacred over 43 farmers in Zabarmari, Borno State, have about 7 farmers, including a nursing mother, been killed by bandits who invaded 3 villages in Subuwa Local Government area of Katsina Sate.

The attack was confirmed by the lawmaker representing Subuwa Local Government Area, Ibrahim Danjuma Machika, during the plenary session of the State House of Assembly on Monday.

Michika explained that the attack occurred in broad daylight in the 3 villages – Tashar Bama, Dogun Muazu and Unguwar Maigayya, noting that about 30 other villagers were kidnapped during the attack.

The lawmaker said, “Our people now live in fear as the bandits now carry out attacks in our villages in broad daylight. They kill the people, cart away their property and kidnap as many people as they can.

“There is no day bandits don’t attack one community or another and the people no longer sleep in their houses.”

Similarly, lawmakers representing other constituencies also decried the rate of insecurity across a number of other communities and how bandits operate freely.

In reaction, the Speaker representing Zango Local Government Area of Katsina State, Tasiu Zango, directed the clerk of the State House of Assembly to forward the complaints on the need to reinforce security in the communities to the State Governor.
