On Wednesday, 8th February 2023, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party faithfuls and supporters received its presidential and vice presidential candidates, Dumebi Kachikwu and Ahmed Buhari respectively in Edo state.
The pair arrived in Benin City with distinguished members of the party for a town hall meeting.
While addressing the crowd, Kachikwu bemoaned the fact that the media does not reflect the war going on in the country.
He said, “The papers don’t tell us that our country is at war.
“Most people don’t understand that Nigeria is at war. A large size of Nigerian territory has been left for terrorist who host their flags.
“Imagine areas bigger than Edo state and terrorists control those areas.
“Our military is fighting day and night, innocent civilians are being killed.
“Our soldiers are being killed.
“In the northwest you hear of banditry every day, you also hear of foreign terrorists, who come in, enter farms, kill and kidnap people, decapitate ones children, butcher women and take and take over farmlands.
“In Nigeria, we are fast becoming the kidnap capital of the world.
He also stated that Nigerians are forced to be unscrupulous and left choice less due to the broken Nigerian system.
“The corruption in Nigeria is so bad that as Nigerians we forced to be corrupt by default because you have no other choice.
“It is our reality”, he added.
The presidential hopeful advised Nigerians to stop looking for a hero as nobody is a saint in Nigeria.
“Don’t wait until it is too late. Don’t wait until Nigeria is burning before you stand up and say you demand better, you want better.
“Those of you, who continue to say that elections, I no wan waste my votes, make I go give APC or PDP wey go win. Its ignorance
“Democracy means I should vote for the person I believe in not the person who will win.
“If you all vote for the person you believe will make Nigeria better, the aggregation of those votes, you’ll start seeing Nigerians voting for conscience not pocket not tribe not religion.
